2011-03-26 · I like Mo Hayder's writing and the fact she is not scared to tackle subjects that a lot of people would prefer not to hear about. In fact, her stories verge on the horror genre. The Treatment is no exception, but I was disappointed by it.

Mo Hayder is a considered detailed and really quite amazing genre writer. But in my view her stories are extremely violent, dark, disturbing and viscerally distressing. Not unlike JK Rowling's descriptions in The Silk Worm where the violence is alarming troubling and upsetting.
